Collage Code Mode Network Details

Collage Code Mode Network Details

*Note: With the update to Collage v5, Advanced Code Mode is the default mode for all connections. Please see the Collage v5 White Paper for more information.

First off, if you are having network-related errors in the Collage application and have not considered our Networking Guide, please do so. Also, elsewhere on our website you will find a guide for Collage and a guide for Advanced Code mode. Below are the details for how Normal Code Mode works vs Advanced Code Mode.

Normal Code Mode

Normal Code Mode will need the devices to be within similar IP address blocks.

In binary, the first 19 bits (in red) have to be the same, and the IPs in the same block.

Advanced Code Mode

Advanced Code Mode makes it so that devices can have essentially any IP address or be on any subnet and still communicate, as long as they're on the same network.  Similarly, devices can also be on different VLANs, as long as they are on the same network.
