Our latest generation displays include an Over the Air (OTA) firmware update function that is built into the Android Settings menu. Please note that this functionality requires the Android side of your Clear Touch display to be connected to the internet, either through hardwired Ethernet or using an optional WiFi Module. OTA firmware updates are useful when your panel's Android OS is out of date, and the update is "non-destructive", meaning it will not wipe the OS of any installed Android apps or personal files.
To access the OTA firmware update function for the 6000A+, navigate to your Android Home screen, place two fingers on the middle of the screen and swipe up. Scroll down and select Settings. On the left hand side of the menu, there is a section called System. Select this option and scroll down to System Update. Select this option, and then select the Check update button. If a firmware update is found, the OS will notify and you request confirmation. Select Confirm and allow the update to run through. Once complete, the display will restart and boot to the Android Home screen
To access the OTA firmware update function, first navigate to your Android Home screen, select the "waffle" icon in the bottom right corner of the screen to see your installed apps, then select Settings. 6000K+, 6000K, 7000XE, 7000X, and 5000C Series displays will include a section near the bottom of the Settings Menu called System Update. Select this option, and then select the Check update button. If a firmware update is found, the OS will notify and you request confirmation. Select Confirm and allow the update to run through. Once complete, the display will restart and boot to the Android Home screen.
On 6000U Series displays, if you see the option to do the System Update please use the steps listed above. If you DO NOT see the System Update in the Settings menu please reference our Firmware Files for Clear Touch Panels article to perform a manual update.
